My research focuses on large-scale robotic additive manufacturing for construction. I develop predictive computational design models and intelligent robotic 3D printing methods that leverage data to create high-performance, materially optimized, and energy-efficient buildings across their full lifecycle, and to streamline construction processes toward right-first-time manufacturing. These models are developed in tandem with reimagining future building elements, including materially optimized slabs (i.e.,Smart Slab project), cooling-driven façades across scales (i.e.,minimal surface façades, green façades for stormwater mitigation), and compression-only structures (i.e., Cohesive Vault). Underpinning this work is a commitment to addressing the critical social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the building industry, from rising construction demand amid labor shortages to reducing material consumption, waste, and CO₂ emissions across both construction processes and building operation.
