Yujing Yang is a Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan whose research focuses on multimodal perception for intelligent manufacturing decision-making. She develops data-driven methods that integrate information from multiple sensing modalities to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of human-centric manufacturing systems. Her research lies at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, robotics, and manufacturing.
Her research has two primary directions: (1) AI-driven anomaly detection and quality assurance for additive manufacturing using three-dimensional point cloud data, and (2) human motion understanding and prediction to enable safer and more effective human-robot collaboration. As a MIDAS Postdoctoral Affiliate, Yujing aims to advance her expertise in multimodal AI, foundation models, and trustworthy machine learning while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. Her long-term goal is to develop intelligent, human-centered manufacturing systems that translate advances in AI into practical industrial solutions.
