Yoonjoo Lee

Postdoctoral Affiliates Fellow, 2025 Cohort

Yoonjoo Lee is a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher whose work focuses on aligning AI systems with human cognitive processes to make them more adaptive, transparent, and responsible. Her research bridges HCI, natural language processing, and cognitive science. She designs evaluation tools and methods that assess how well AI systems align with human cognitive processes and develops systems that adapt to how individuals understand and process information. Through this work, she aims to create AI that can scaffold human thought, support sensemaking, and co-develop understanding with users over time.

As a MIDAS Postdoctoral Fellow, Yoonjoo is exploring how AI systems can continuously adapt to how people reason and learn over time and across different contexts.
