Computer Vision Detecting the faintest objects in the Solar System

Kevin was developing heliostack, a novel software-based approach for detecting solar system objects in astronomical images. The software was able to combine images taken on multiple days and from multiple telescopes, which fundamentally changed how we searched for and studied solar system minor planet populations. This technique allowed scientists to study smaller and more distant objects in our solar system, with immediate applications to data taken by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.
