Staff Collective for Data Science 2026 Year-End Social

Dear colleagues,

We the SCDS coordinators write to invite you to join us at the year-end social for the Staff Collective for Data Science.

As AI and data science play increasingly essential roles in academic research, staff scientists are also becoming increasingly essential in the research ecosystem. We can bridge methodology and applications, we can provide continuity and institutional knowledge to research groups and departments, and we can help our research teams stay on top of technology advancement. Through SCDS, we can also connect with each other and make this network a technology enablement network on campus.

At the April event, you will:

• Get a sneak peek of what activities we (the coordinators) are developing for this community in the next few months.
• Hear a few lightning talks about new AI / data science resources (ARC, MIDAS, and others). (You can sign up to give one!)
• Share your thoughts on how you want this community to support you and how you want to be involved.

Time: April 27 (Monday), 11 am – 1 pm. Lunch provided!
Location: 3520 Green Court, Ann Arbor. 3rd floor collaborative work space. 

This building houses several AI-related groups, so it will be nice for SCDS members to get to know the space and the people there. There is ample parking and it is also very close to the Green Road park-and-ride lot. Please see the parking instruction and a map at the bottom of this page.
