Analyzing biotic interactions under global change using LLMs

Hengxing Zou received his PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2024 from Rice University. As a global change ecologist, Hengxing is interested in how the change in species distribution over space and time affects species interaction. Using survey data of bird populations, he works on how spatial range shifts over half a century may have affected local diversity and bird-bird interactions. Hengxing is now leading a team to collect species interaction data from participatory science platforms using large language models (LLMs).
