Don’t Blind Them with Science: How to Write in Plain Language

February 19, 2020 @ 1:15 pm - 2:45 pm

Room 340 West Hall

Jill Jividen, PhD, Director of Research Development at the U-M Office of Research, will conduct a hands-on writing workshop that teaches researchers how to translate their work for lay audiences. In this 90-minute session, Dr. Jividen will present the tenets of plain language, offer strategies for making complex subjects accessible to non-scientists, and help participants simplify their own technical writing. Consider this workshop to improve your science communication (e.g., social media, blogging), hone your elevator pitch and/or craft your grant proposal abstracts.
Although some workshops are designated for particular groups, the content is the same.  We will reach out to you the week of February 3rd to verify your spot in the workshop you registered for.  It’s first come, first served and we will add more sessions if there is enough demand.
Register here.
