Detroit data for transportation project meeting
January 14, 2020 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
School of Dentistry
As the City of Detroit has invested in new technologies across the mobility spectrum (LIDAR & imagery collection, connected traffic systems, upgraded bus technology), it has amassed petabytes of disparate datasets that it wants to integrate and use to make better operational and capital planning decisions. In an effort to maximize the impact and value of such new data on all aspects of the transportation system in the City, Detroit has partnered with the MIDAS community and is now seeking students to join the research team. Students will carry out projects under the supervision of Dr. Danai Koutra (EECS faculty) and Arya Farahi (MIDAS postdoctoral fellow).
Projects will range from image-based machine learning and processing, data engineering & architecture, data analytics, and algorithmic scoring models. We invite all interested students to join representatives of the City’s Mobility & Innovation teams for the kick-off meeting and learn more.
