Don’t Take NoSQL for an Answer: Postgres for Time Series, Clayton Yochum (Everactive)

March 11, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

201 S. Division, Suite 500

Time series data tends to create worst-case-scenarios for traditional SQL databases, so most time series databases are built on NoSQL technology which fail to retain the benefits of relational data models. This talk will demonstrate how the TimescaleDB extension not only makes it possible to store this data in Postgres, but why it’s a good idea. Learn how Everactive successfully migrated hundreds of millions of rows of IoT data from a NoSQL database to Postgres and how this has improved their cloud software operations.  Register

Clayton Yochum is a Data Science Engineer at Everactive, an industrial internet-of-things (IIoT) startup with an office in Ann Arbor. He still clings to his roots in data science but is starting to embrace life as a Data(base) Engineer since he was never that good at statistics in the first place. Clayton lives in Ypsilanti and escapes to the UP to snowboard and camp whenever possible.
