“A Semiparametric Approach to Effect Modifier Identification”

Abstract: Effect modification estimation is one of the main goals in research areas such as precision medicine and health disparities. We propose a semiparametric framework for identifying effect modification. Instead of modeling outcome distribution, we directly posit semiparametric models on contrasts, or expected differences of the outcome under different exposures. Through semiparametric estimation theory, all valid estimating equations, including the efficient scores, are identified. Besides providing flexible models for effect modification, our approach also enables dimension reduction in presence of high dimensional data.

Light refreshments for seminar guests will be served at 3:00 p.m. in room 1655
